Chilly Winds - NEW Single - First Release From Upcoming LIVE Album
Y’all know about my upcoming Dancing Fiddler album, right? It’s the one that y’all helped me create last year by supporting my Kickstarted campaign. This new tune is from a completely different project. I recorded this project LIVE at Barnfire Studio. It’s the complete opposite of Dancing Fiddler. Dancing Fiddler was super produced and planned and arranged. This LIVE album is completely raw and unplanned and unrehearsed. I’m super excited to start releasing these completely opposite projects.
I want to tell y’all about the project and what it means to me. Last year, I got together with Nashville’s best OldTime musicians, and we jammed on our favorite tunes. We spent two days in the studio hanging out and having fun and playing our favorites and recording our jam sessions. “Chilly Winds” is the first of many tunes I’ll be releasing from this project. Stay tuned for more! Featuring Nate Leath on fiddle, Victor Furtado on banjo, Tyler Andal on guitar, and myself on foot percussion.
This LIVE project is very geeky, and if you’re really into traditional OldTime music, you’re gonna love it. I created this project for me. I needing to get in touch with the heart and soul of who I am and why I play music. Last year, I was so busy with the circus and traveling and performing, I lost touch with the meaning of the music and dance. I was fiddling and dancing in a way that was completely disconnected from the tradition. It was amazing to take these traditions to new audiences and new stages around the country and share with people who would otherwise never get exposed to these sorts of things, but in the process, my artistry got depleted and I needed to get back in touch with my roots. And so, this project was born as a retreat and revival for my soul.
